Quelques romans incohérents et maniérés : la Trilogie de l’Amour et de la Mort

Valentine de Saint-Point. Des feux de l’avant-garde à l’appel à l’orient

Chapter author : Barbara Meazzi

Publisher : Presses Universitaires de Rennes

We’ve chosen to analyze the novels in the Love and Death Trilogy, Un amour, Un inceste and Une mort, published by Valentine de Saint-Point between 1906 and 1908, by placing them in a literary context in the midst of pre-avant-garde and avant-garde ferment. By highlighting some of their main ideas, we’ll try to understand how these texts appeared “incoherent and mannered” in 1925, according to Henriette Charasson’s – undoubtedly critical – judgment.
